About KGKAssociates

Hello and welcome to KGKAssociates! I'm Kathryn Kempton Amaral, the founder and director. I have 25+ years of experience in the non-profit sector, international public health, and higher education that informs my coaching and leadership practice. I bring this deep experience to engagements with organizations and individuals in times of transition. Read on to learn more about how I came to coaching and leadership development work.

Over a decade ago, I attended a week-long leadership development program. I went in as a skeptic but quickly saw the power in what I was learning. Through self reflection, coaching, and conversations, I gained a deeper understanding of myself. At the time, I didn’t know what to do with my new-found knowledge; I only knew that I wanted to help others feel the same excitement and potential that I felt.

Fast forward to today: I am an executive and leadership coach, accredited by the EMCC at the Practitioner level. I hold a master’s degree in organizational communication and leadership. I have designed and launched leadership development programs at Harvard University and Brown University. I am a facilitator, a coach, a mentor, and a connector.

My current work builds on my early career in global health and what I learned from the extraordinary leaders at Partners In Health: humility, solidarity, and optimism. I bring an international perspective to my leadership work. My time at PIH and four years living in the Netherlands gave me the skills to navigate cross-cultural issues - in and out of the workplace - with curiosity, humor, and patience.
